On July 24, President Joe Biden addressed the nation from the Oval Office, emphasizing the critical importance of this election and the need to safeguard democratic values.

“I believe that my history as president, my leadership in the world, my vision for the future of America all deserve a second term. But nothing, nothing can stand in the way of saving our democracy — including personal ambitions. So I decided that the best way forward was to pass the torch to a new generation. This is the best way to unite our nation,” Biden emphasized.

Biden expressed gratitude for Vice President Kamala Harris, whom he endorsed as the new presidential candidate. “She is experienced, resilient, capable. She was an incredible partner for me and a leader for the country,” he said.

In his speech, Biden reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict with Russia. He pledged to continue rallying a coalition of nations to counter Russian aggression and prevent further damage. “We’ll keep rallying a coalition of proud nations to stop Putin from taking over Ukraine, doing more damage,” Biden stated.

Earlier, on July 21, President Joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race.
