CCD Exposes Fake Leaflets Aimed at Damaging Ukraine-Poland Relations

Fake claims are circulating online that leaflets criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have appeared on the streets of Poland. Photos are being shared to support this narrative, but no credible evidence has been provided according to Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD).

The leaflet, which the CCD says falsely claims to be widespread in Poland, shows an image of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alongside the Polish text: “A Nazi's place is in the trash, not in Auschwitz.” On X, the Russian caption accompanying the image read: “All of Poland is plastered with leaflets against Zelenskyy.”

These claims are being disseminated through the PRAVDA network, a propaganda platform previously identified by the Center.

An analysis of the images by the CCD indicates they are fake. All the leaflets appear to be pasted in exactly the same manner, which is unlikely in real-life conditions. Additionally, the consistent method of distribution across the photos suggests they were created using graphic editing software.

The CCD added that “The goal of such fakes is to incite hostility between the Ukrainian and Polish peoples and to discredit the Ukrainian President in the international information field.”

Earlier, the CCD reported that Russian propagandists used deepfake technology to fabricate claims that actor Willem Dafoe made disparaging remarks about Ukraine and President Zelenskyy. The CCD confirmed the original video only contained comments about the movie Dafoe was promoting.
