Fire Reported at Omsk Plant Producing Flamethrower Systems in Russia
A fire has erupted at the Omsk Transport Engineering Plant Omsktransmash in Russia. The blaze reportedly started on the roof of one of the factory's workshops, with preliminary estimates indicating that the fire has affected an area of approximately 50 square meters.
Thick smoke from the fire is visible across various parts of Omsk, according to local media reports on Thursday, September 12.
The plant is involved in the production of flamethrower systems, armored personnel carriers, T-72B3 and T-80U tanks, and armored repair and recovery vehicles. Omsktransmash is currently under international sanctions.
Despite the intensity of the fire, local authorities have stated that production at the plant has not been impacted.
Omsk Region Governor Vitaly Khotsenko stated that there have been no reported casualties.
"A fire occurred at the Omsktransmash plant. The roof of one of the workshops caught fire during repairs. Specialists are on-site managing the situation, and further details are being clarified," Khotsenko wrote.
