Gas Attack Disrupts Event for Ukrainian Soldiers' Rehabilitation in Brussels
Brussels hosted the Second Summit on Partnership, Innovation, and Veteran Health on October 29-30, focused on the protection and rehabilitation of Ukrainian military personnel abroad. However, after a short time, participants reported symptoms indicative of gas exposure.
According to Violetta Dvornikova, director of the Ukrainian Civil Society Hub, attendees began to feel unwell after a screening of a film shot in the Kherson region.
Witnesses reported a strange smell followed by signs of intoxication, including headaches. Dvornikova characterized the incident as a well-planned provocation intended to intimidate and undermine European laws and international norms.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene, including Belgian medical personnel, law enforcement, and rescuers in chemical protective gear. Two individuals were hospitalized due to symptoms of poisoning, while others declined medical attention.
