The Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán arrived in Kyiv on Tuesday morning, July 2, for the first time since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Presidents of Hungary and Ukraine, Viktor Orbán and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, are expected to address current issues concerning Hungarian-Ukrainian relations and “the chance to create peace”, Orban's press chief said.

Orban's visit comes just a day after Hungary took over the presidency of the European Union Council. In an interview with M1 on Monday, July 1, Orbán said that Hungary’s first steps to promote peace would be taken on Tuesday, hinting at his visit to the Ukrainian capital.

The last time the Prime Minister of Hungary paid an official visit to Ukraine was in 2010.
