The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for former Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

The warrants relate to the war crime of directing attacks at civilian objects, causing excessive incidental harm to civilians or damage to civilian objects, and the crime against humanity of inhumane acts committed from October 10, 2022, to March 9, 2023.

ICC prosecutors believe that Shoigu and Gerasimov bear individual responsibility for the aforementioned crimes.
