Authors

Two out of three “Kalibr” missiles launched by Russian troops on the night of June 23rd were intercepted by air defense, reported the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to Mykola Oleshchuk, commander of the Air Force, Russian forces used vessels in Azov Sea waters to launch “Kalibr” missiles. The intercepted missiles were neutralized by air defense units located in the Kyiv region.

In the aftermath, debris from one of the Russian missiles caused partial damage to six apartment buildings and over 20 private homes in a residential area of Kyiv region. Ruslan Kravchenko, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, confirmed the damage, noting shattered windows, balconies, and damaged facades and roofs across affected buildings. Additional structures, including a gas station, pharmacy, businesses, and an administrative building, as well as three vehicles, were also damaged. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by two individuals were minor, and they did not require hospitalization.

Currently, the State Emergency Service has utilized two pieces of equipment and fifteen personnel to manage the aftermath and commence recovery operations.

Earlier, Russia recently shifted its military strategy by launching missiles from the Azov Sea. According to Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk, this change might suggest that the Black Sea has become less safe for the Russian fleet to operate in.
