Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kazan, Russia, for the BRICS  summit, where he met and embraced Russian leader Vladimir Putin, and stated that India supports a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine and is ready to facilitate it, reported RIA Novosti.

"Regarding the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, we are in regular contact. As I have mentioned before, we believe that issues should be resolved peacefully, and we fully support the swift restoration of peace and stability," Modi said.

According to the Indian Prime Minister, "In all our efforts, we prioritize humanity, and we are prepared to provide any possible assistance in the future."

Earlier in September, Politico reported, citing a senior Ukrainian official speaking on condition of anonymity, that Kyiv views India as a reliable partner in brokering a peace deal.

Previously on September 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Modi as part of his visit to the United States. According to Zelenskyy, the main focus of the discussion was on strengthening cooperation between the two countries on international platforms, particularly the UN and G20, as well as the implementation of the Peace Formula and preparations for the second Peace Summit.

The BRICS summit will take place in Kazan from October 22 to 24. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that representatives from 32 countries will participate in the summit, with 24 of them being represented by heads of state.
