Netherlands and Spain Boost Military Support for Ukraine Following Ramstein Summit

The Netherlands and Spain are to supply additional weapons following the 22nd Ramstein summit of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) on May 20.

The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Kajsa Ollongren, announced that a shipment of YPR-765 infantry fighting vehicles will be provided to Ukraine by the Netherlands.

“The Netherlands will presently provide the Ukrainian armed forces with YPR armored infantry fighting vehicles with remote control weapon stations, following @zelenskyyua 's request. It is vital that all countries continue to contribute to Ukraine,” Ollongren wrote on her official X account.

The Dutch Ministry of Defense mentioned that Ukraine has already received 207 such infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) of various types from the Netherlands. The request for IFVs came from Ukraine.

YPR-765 is a Dutch development that is equipped with remote weapons control stations that allow the crew to control the weapons from the inside. It also allows vehicles to provide fire support on the battlefield.

On May 20, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles also disclosed the shipment of the second batch of Leopard tanks and other military aid to Ukraine.

Spain announced the delivery of the second batch of Leopard tanks to Ukraine. The military package also includes 155-mm artillery ammunition, Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, anti-drone systems, optronic surveillance and tracking systems, and turrets.
