Russia Loses Multiple Aircraft Within 72 Hours

Reports indicate that Moscow’s military operations in Ukraine have suffered significant setbacks, with two combat planes reportedly lost within a span of just 72 hours.

Previously, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced in a weekend address that the country’s 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade had successfully downed another Su-25 attack aircraft in the Donetsk region. The Su-25 is specifically designed to provide close air support for troops on the ground.

A Telegram channel, known for its links to the Russian military, reported the loss of a Su-34 bomber and its crew late on Monday, although no official confirmation of this event has yet been released.

This adds to a series of losses endured by Russia’s air force throughout the war in Ukraine. On February 29, 2024, Ukraine’s defense ministry revealed that its military had successfully downed three Su-34 jets in a single day.

General Christopher Cavoli, head of the U.S. European Command, disclosed to US lawmakers in April that Moscow had incurred losses amounting to approximately 10 percent of its aircraft fleet since the war’s onset in February 2022.
