Russian Forces Bogged Down in Street Battles for Vovchansk, Kharkiv Region

Ukrainian forces are engaged in intense battles against renewed Russian offensives on several fronts, as reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

“After initial gains in Kharkiv region, Russian troops became bogged down in fierce street battles for the city of Vovchansk. Ukrainian defenders have reportedly inflicted significant losses on Russian assault units. Despite attempts to reinforce these attacks with reserves, the enemy has been unable to make significant progress,” Syrskyi stated.

Similar struggles are unfolding near Liptsy, where Russian forces have transitioned to a defensive posture after suffering substantial losses. They have resorted to mining the area and shelling Ukrainian positions.

“The most critical fighting currently centers around the Pokrovske and Kurakhove regions. Here, Russian troops are concentrating their most prepared units in a desperate attempt to break through Ukrainian defenses on a narrow section of the front line between Staromykhailivka and Berdychi. Ukrainian forces are fiercely resisting this push,” Commander-in-Chief remarked.

Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that his key aim at the moment is understanding the evolving situation, addressing any arising challenges, and ensuring Ukrainian troops have the resources they need to prevail. This includes providing additional ammunition, drones, electronic warfare (EW) equipment, and reinforcements.
