Ukraine Can Still Win: Top NATO Official on Progress on the Battlefield
Admiral Rob Bauer, Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, warned of a period of significant global instability “because the tectonic plates of power are shifting,” he said in an interview with Terzake on VRT Canvas.
According to Bauer, Ukraine can still win the war against Russia. “It’s not too late for Ukraine. The Russians have made progress, but it’s still fairly limited and not yet strategic”.
Bauer acknowledged a slowdown in Western support impacting the Ukrainian war effort: “The most important thing is that we continue to send aid. And the longer the war lasts, the more difficult that becomes. Many countries have been providing weapons and ammunition from their own stockpiles for two years now, but those are not endless either.”
While expressing confidence in the West’s commitment to increasing production, Bauer acknowledged a gap of “at least a year” before significant supplies are available. He emphasized the need for measures to bridge this gap and ensure Ukraine is prepared for its next counteroffensive.
Bauer has been the chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, the alliance’s highest military body, for the past three years.
