Ukraine Obtains Lists of Missing Soldiers and Letters From POWs
Ukraine received lists of its missing soldiers and letters from prisoners of war through Qatar’s mediation, Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets reported following his meeting with Lolwah Rashid Al-Khater, Qatar’s Minister of International Cooperation on October 25.
During the discussions, Lubinets and Al-Khater also explored ways to expedite the exchange process for military prisoners.
They reached additional agreements to provide aid to civilians facing dire circumstances, including assistance in restoring personal identification documents.
“Qatar continues to play a crucial role as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia on matters concerning military and civilian prisoners,” Lubinets said, adding that Qatar’s assistance has previously facilitated the return of Ukrainian children from Russia and occupied regions.
Previously, 13 children who were separated from their families due to the war, were brought back to Ukraine with the help of Qatar, within the framework of the action plan of the President of Ukraine Bring Kids Back UA.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine managed to return a total of 3,767 people from Russian captivity.
