The Office of the President of Ukraine refuted information that 7 NATO countries are opposed to inviting Ukraine to the Alliance, emphasizing the active support of the majority of member states.

This comment was made by the press secretary of the President's Office, Serhii Nykyforov, to Ukrainian media.

"The information in the media that seven countries oppose Ukraine's invitation to NATO is not true. These rumors benefit those who want to create a false impression that Ukraine's accession lacks broad support among Alliance members. In reality, the idea of inviting Ukraine is supported by the vast majority of member countries, and active advocacy work is being done with the rest,” Nykyforov said.

Previously, Politico published an article stating that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Victory Plan is facing challenges because it relies on Ukraine receiving an invitation to join NATO, and some key members of the Alliance are not interested in this happening. Reportedly opposed to the invitation are Germany, the USA, Hungary, Slovakia, Belgium, Slovenia, and Spain.

“An invitation is the first point of Ukraine's Victory Plan and a reliable path to a just and lasting peace. Volodymyr Zelenskyy has presented the plan to international partners, the Ukrainian parliament, the community, media representatives, and civil society, consolidating their efforts to bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership," Nykyforov concluded.

Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy presented his Victory Plan at the Verkhovna Rada  on October 16, stressing the end of the war depends on Ukraine’s partners and not on Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin.
