Rassvet is Bureau 1440’s low Earth orbit satellite network, built as Russia’s Starlink alternative. State-funded and dual-use, it could link Russian military systems and long-range drones as coverage expands.

With unauthorized Starlink terminals blocked across Russian lines, Moscow urgently needs a replacement. Rassvet is designed to fill this critical gap, ensuring dual-use military communications continue.

For now, Rassvet lacks the equivalent to Starlink scale. But, using low Earth orbit satellites, it could eventually give drones live video, out-of-sight control, and long-range connectivity.

A full constellation offers command networks for long-range drones, reconnaissance, and vehicles.
Spread across hundreds of small satellites, the mesh network is far harder to disrupt or jam.

Ukraine’s presidential adviser Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov says Russia could theoretically put satellite terminals
on drones, but too few exist for stable connection. Practical military use requires 200–250 satellites—Russia’s 2027 target.

The threat remains limited for now due to intermittent coverage. However, risks escalate rapidly heading into 2027, making disruption of Russia’s satellite supply chain a vital strategic target for Ukraine.
