Up to 1.5 million Ukrainian museum artifacts remain in the temporarily Russian-occupied territories, with their fate being unknown.

This was stated by the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev.

"We lost a lot of museum artifacts, some of them were looted, and some of them were damaged by enemy shelling," said Karandieiev.

He noted that there are also losses in the de-occupied territories, saying Russia violates international law and appropriates what does not belong to them.

"We document these crimes. This is done in two ways. First, according to international protocols jointly with UNESCO, as well as our national ones. And soon there will be a time when, based on these testimonies, these documents, we will be able to prepare lawsuits against the aggressor state, and justice would prevail" said the Minister.

Recently Ukraine has managed to return its Scythian gold saved by international courts from Russian occupiers in the Crimean peninsula.
