“A Rare Moment of Honesty”: Graham Comments on Medvedev’s Revelation of Russia’s Goals

US Senator Lindsey Graham responded on June 3 to a statement by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, who openly admitted that Russia is participating in negotiations not to seek peace, but to secure a “faster victory.”
Medvedev published a post on Telegram, explaining the real purpose of Russia’s delegation in the ongoing talks with Ukraine in Istanbul.
“The negotiations in Istanbul are not for some imaginary compromise peace based on unrealistic conditions,” he wrote. “They are for our swiftest possible victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi regime.”
Senator Graham commented on Medvedev’s remarks in a post on X, calling it a “rare moment of honesty” from the Kremlin’s propaganda machine.
Congratulations to Mr. Medvedev for a rare moment of honesty coming from the Russian propaganda machine.

I appreciate you making it clear to the world that Putin and Russia are not remotely interested in peace. https://t.co/KtlHCou8tp

Earlier, during the Istanbul peace talks on June 2, Russia’s lead negotiator Vladimir Medinsky dismissed Ukraine’s call to return deported children with a mocking remark, saying, “Don’t put on a show for bleeding-heart European old ladies.”
