Angelina Jolie Speaks Out About Visit to Kherson and Mykolaiv: “Threat of Drones Was Constant”

American actress and UN Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie stated that she faced a constant, palpable drone threat during her visits to the southern Ukrainian cities of Mykolaiv and Kherson this week, adding that her group paused while a drone passed overhead, according to her Instagram post on November 9.
She said that residents described the psychological burden of living under continual threat and a fear of being forgotten by the world, while authorities have relocated schools, clinics, and daycare facilities to reinforced basements and installed anti-drone netting on some roads to ensure the continuity of essential services.

Also, Jolie said, “You hear a low hum in the sky. It’s become known locally as a ‘human safari,’ with drones used to track, hunt and terrorize people,” noting that “there was a moment when we had to pause and wait while a drone flew overhead.”
In the same Instagram message, Jolie praised the “courage and skill” of local organizations and urged governments to match that resolve, while also criticizing those “in power” for failing to end the war that affects civilians in Ukraine.
Earlier, it was reported that a UN investigation found that the drone attacks on civilians in the right-bank part of the Kherson region qualify as crimes against humanity, according to the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine.
