Boyko Gas and Oil Drilling Towers on Fire in Black Sea, OSINT Analyst Reports
In the Black Sea, the so-called "Boyko Towers", gas and oil drilling platforms near the coast of temporarily occupied Crimea, caught fire.
This was reported by an OSINT analyst, using satellite imagery.
It is noted that three drilling platforms east of Snake Island were allegedly attacked. As of August 24, the middle platform is on fire, and a plume of smoke is coming from the 3rd platform.
Earlier, Ukraine had already hit the "Boyko Towers". The Russian military used them to hide equipment for surveillance of the Armed Forces in the Black Sea.
On September 11, 2023, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Ukraine had returned the "Boyko Towers" under its control, which had been under occupation since 2014 and which Russia had used for military purposes since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
