Russia Destroys Kharkiv TV Tower In Aerial Strike
Photographer Pavlo Pakhomenko shares photos of Kharkiv TV Station destroyed by Russia.

The Kharkiv TV Tower began operating in 1981 and stood for 43 years. It was the 5th tallest TV tower in Ukraine until it was destroyed by Russia on the 22nd of April 2024. But it wasn’t the only TV tower that Russia targeted—it shot at two others and occupied one more.

Oleh Synyehubov, Governor of Kharkiv Oblast, confirmed that Russia destroyed the Kharkiv TV Tower in a recent aerial attack on the city.

Synyehubov stated that there are no casualties resulting from the attack so far, as employees were safely in shelters during an air raid siren.

The strike has already caused disruptions to the digital television signal in the region.

“As of now, there are disruptions to the digital television signal,” Syniehubov stated.

The governor took the opportunity to strongly emphasize the importance of relying on official information sources. “We once again urge citizens to trust only official sources of information,” he stressed.

Previously, on March 6th, 2022, a Russian Su-34 bomber carried out two strikes on the Kharkiv TV tower during an airstrike on Kharkiv.

Ukrainian Air Force units responded, downing the aircraft and capturing the pilot. The attack resulted in temporary disruptions to the television signal and caused damage to the tower’s supports. However, the structure remained standing.
