British intelligence has raised concerns about potential drone threats to military installations in the UK following recent sightings of unmanned aerial vehicles near several Royal Air Force (RAF) bases, according to Daily Mail.

Incidents have been reported at RAF Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall, and RAF Feltwell, leading to speculation about coordinated activity.

Former British intelligence officer Philip Ingram suggested that these incidents could be linked to Russian intelligence operations, possibly carried out by the GRU, to gather reconnaissance or prepare for future actions.

“This has all the hallmarks of a Russian intelligence operation,” said Ingram, a former colonel in British military intelligence. “It is a distinct possibility, if not a certain probability, that all of this is connected to Russian intelligence. They, and the GRU in particular, are a pack of aggressive little boys trying to imply they have the ability to disrupt and influence through certain levels of nasty activity.”

Ingram further added, “I would say within the next few months, we will definitely see a fresh flurry of activity. Whether it’s drones or something else, I suspect it will be something else.”

Similar drone sightings have also been documented in the United States at military bases in New Jersey, New York, and Texas.

Earlier, a German Bundeswehr helicopter was reportedly fired upon by a Russian ship using signal rockets in the Baltic Sea region.

The incident occurred while the helicopter was conducting a reconnaissance mission, raising concerns about the safety of military operations in the region.
