Daily Update: Russia Loses 980 Troops, 5 Tanks and 32 Artillery Systems in One Day

Russia’s forces lost 980 personnel, five tanks, and 32 artillery systems over the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s General Staff reported on March 4.

According to updated figures released by the Ukrainian military, Russia’s total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022, are estimated at:

  • Personnel: approximately 1,269,500 (+980);

  • Tanks: 11,723 (+5);

  • Armored combat vehicles: 24,135 (+4);

  • Artillery systems: 37,874 (+32);

  • Multiple launch rocket systems: 1,667 (+2);

  • Air defense systems: 1,319 (no change);

  • Aircraft: 435 (no change);

  • Helicopters: 348 (no change);

  • Operational-tactical UAVs: 156,431 (+1,733);

  • Cruise missiles: 4,384 (no change);

  • Warships/boats: 30 (no change);

  • Submarines: 2 (no change);

  • Vehicles and fuel tankers: 81,224 (+232);

  • Special equipment: 4,078 (+2).

The General Staff also reported 144 combat engagements across the front line during the past day.

The most intense fighting took place in the Huliaipole and Pokrovsk sectors, where Russian forces launched 25 attacks each, followed by the Kostiantynivka direction, which saw 17 assaults.

As of 8:00 a.m. on March 4, Ukrainian military officials said Russian forces carried out one missile strike, 74 airstrikes, and dropped 255 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, Russian troops launched 8,445 suicide drones and conducted 3,453 shelling attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 94 strikes using multiple launch rocket systems, according to the General Staff.

Earlier, Ukrainiain President President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s Defense Forces have reclaimed 460 square kilometers of territory since the start of 2026.

“We are diversifying the forms of war, which allows us to resist. We are not losing, and Russia is still not satisfied. They are losing many people, up to 35,000 per month. That is a gigantic figure,” Zelenskyy said.
