The Ecumenical Patriarchate Bartholomew of Constantinople has recently joined the signatories in the communique of the Summit on Peace for Ukraine, according to the Swiss government website.

This update comes as Rwanda has withdrawn its signature, following Iraq and Jordan, who also retracted their signatures from the joint communique.

Rwanda was previously included in the list dated June 16. The list was updated on the website of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs on June 17.

The official Joint Communiqué on a Peace framework outlined key demands, which included full control of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant for safety reasons, ensuring uninterrupted food production in Ukraine to prevent global food shortages, securing access to Black and Azov Sea ports to keep trade flowing freely, releasing all prisoners of war, and most importantly, securing the return of Ukrainian children deported by Russia.

On June 16-17, a Summit on Peace for Ukraine took place in Switzerland, where the world leaders started a process of peacemaking for Ukraine and the restoration of the UN Charter’s full force.

Eighty countries collectively called for the “territorial integrity” of Ukraine to be the foundation for any peace agreement to end Russia’s war, in a final joint Communiqué.
