The licensed assembly of BREN-2 rifles began in November 2024 at one of the facilities of the joint-stock company Ukroboronprom State Concern (also known as the Ukrainian Defense Industry).
“This marks a practical step forward in collaboration with Česká zbrojovka, a subsidiary of Colt CZ (Czech Republic),” wrote Ukroboronprom on their official account on Telegram.
The agreement with Česká zbrojovka was signed on July 16 of this year and includes provisions for local assembly and, eventually, full production of NATO-standard assault rifles in Ukraine.
“Partnership with our Czech colleagues will help improve the supply of reliable and modern firearms for Ukraine’s Defense Forces produced within our country. Additionally, this marks another step toward integrating our defense industry into the production chains of NATO countries,” said Oleh Huliak, Director General of Ukroboronprom.
Previously, on December 10, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced key advancements in Ukraine’s defense industry, including the serial production of the Palyanytsia missile, successful combat deployment of the ‘Peklo’ drone-missile, and ongoing trials of the new ‘Ruta’ missile.
