First Wave of Ukrainian Specialists Complete F-16 Training in Denmark, With More to Follow
Denmark has undertaken to train up to a hundred Ukrainian specialists for the maintenance of F-16 fighters, 50 of them have already completed training and are already working on receiving the first F-16s in Ukraine.
They will perform auxiliary tasks, including mechanics, weapons specialists, and ground personnel for Ukrainian air bases.
Earlier this week, it became known that Denmark will train about 20 Ukrainian pilots by the end of the year. First Danish F-16 jets are expected to arrive in Ukraine this summer.
“So far we have completed the training of the first 50, most of which have returned home to help prepare the first combat aircraft. We will start the next 50 immediately after the summer break,” said the Chief of the Danish Air Command, Major General Jan Dam.
He added that the first batch of pilots has not yet been fully trained.
“We are not quite ready yet. But the first ones are very close to being ready,” he said.
Major General Jan Dam also called on all parties not to set too high expectations for the arrival of F-16 fighter jets in Ukraine.
