ICBM, launched from the Russian Astrakhan region, reportedly covered a distance of approximately 621 miles (1,000 kilometers) in less than 5 minutes.
The RS-26 “Rubezh” is classified as a medium-range ballistic missile designed for nuclear charge delivery.
Though reports suggested the missile was excluded from Russia’s 2027 armament program in 2018, recent threats from the Kremlin in July 2024 hinted at a potential revival of medium- and intermediate-range missile production, including the RS-26 “Rubezh.”
The RS-26 is produced by the Moscow Institute of Thermal Technology and manufactured by the Votkinsk Plant, which also produces the “Iskander” ballistic missiles.
This missile has an estimated range of up to 6,000 kilometers and a launch weight between 40-50 tons.
