Four US Soldiers Go Missing During Training in Lithuania Near Belarus Border

Four US soldiers participating in training exercises in Lithuania have gone missing near the border with Belarus. Search efforts are ongoing.
This was reported by the US Embassy in Lithuania on March 26.
According to sources from LRT, it is suspected that the four US soldiers may have died, but this information has not been officially confirmed.
The news agency added that the Lithuanian military received a report at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, about the disappearance of four US soldiers and one tracked combat vehicle during exercises at General Silvestras Žukauskas training ground in Pabrade.

According to the US embassy, the soldiers are from the 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.
“I would like to personally thank the Lithuanian Armed Forces and first responders who quickly came to our aid in our search operations,” said Lieutenant General Charles Costanza, the V Corps commanding general. “It’s this kind of teamwork and support that exemplifies the importance of our partnership and our humanity regardless of what flags we wear on our shoulders.”
On March 18, Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda confirmed that Poland plans to install anti-personnel mines along its borders with Russia and Belarus as part of its large-scale defense program, “Eastern Shield.”
