France to Deliver First Mirage 2000 Aircraft to Ukraine in Early 2025, Says Foreign Minister
France will provide Ukraine with its first Mirage 2000 fighter jets in early 2025. This announcement was made by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot during a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.
Barrot emphasized France’s commitment to supporting Ukraine, stating, “Our assistance is demonstrated through concrete actions. In the defense sector, we are providing Ukraine with equipment and military technology. France is also the first country to train an entire brigade, known as the Anne of Kyiv Brigade.”
The delivery of the Mirage 2000 aircraft is part of a broader initiative to enhance Ukraine’s military capabilities. Reports indicate that France plans to transfer a total of 20 Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets to Ukraine. Additionally, the timeline for these deliveries has been adjusted, with the first shipments expected in the first quarter of 2025.
France will also take responsibility for training pilots who will operate the new aircraft. This comes as part of Ukraine’s efforts to diversify its air force, which may also include the acquisition of F-16 fighters and long-range reconnaissance aircraft, ACS 890.
