Germany Sends New Military Aid Package to Ukraine, Including Leopard Tanks

Germany has provided a new military aid package including a range of armored vehicles, artillery, and munitions to Ukraine, reported German government on October 18.

This package is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russian aggression.

The package includes 8 Leopard 1 A5 tanks along with spare parts, 20 Marder infantry fighting vehicles also with spare parts and ammunition, and a supply of ammunition for the Leopard 1 and Leopard 2 tanks.

Additionally, 4 MRAP armored vehicles have been delivered, as well as 1 IRIS-T SLS short-range air defense system and 1 IRIS-T SLM medium-range air defense system, both with missiles.

The package also contains Sea Sparrow missiles, 6 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers with spare parts, and 15,000 rounds of 155mm artillery shells.

Moreover, Germany sent 30 Vector reconnaissance drones, 1 BEAVER bridge-laying tank, 2 WISENT 1 demining vehicles, and 3,000 RGW 90 anti-tank grenade launchers.

Other notable items include 25,000 rounds of 40mm ammunition, 460 MK 556 assault rifles, 90 HLR 338 sniper rifles with accompanying ammunition, 30 CR 308 rifles, and 3,000 SFP9 pistols.

In addition to the military hardware, Germany supplied 100 portable demining systems, 90 mine detectors, 1 mine plow, 2 mobile antenna mast systems, 57 laser rangefinders, and 75,000 medical tourniquets.

Also, Germany delivered AIM-9L/I-1 Sidewinder missiles, 2 TRML-4D air surveillance radars, 4,000 attack drones, 360 SONGBIRD reconnaissance drones, 42,000 more rounds of 40mm ammunition, and winter clothing to ensure Ukrainian troops are ready for the colder months.

Earlier, US Department of Defense released detailed breakdown of a $425 million military aid package for Ukraine, which included HIMARS and NASAMS ammunition, artillery shells and more.
