US Reveals New Military Aid Package for Ukraine Including Air Defense Missiles and HIMARS

Detailed breakdown of a $425 million military aid package for Ukraine, announced earlier was released by the US Department of Defense on October 16.

The package is being provided through the Presidential Drawdown Authority, a program that allows weapons to be supplied directly from US Army stockpiles, according to the Pentagon.

The aid includes additional ammunition for NASAMS and HIMARS systems, RIM-7 missiles for air defense support, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and air-to-ground munitions.

Also included in the package are 155mm and 105mm artillery shells, TOW missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, 2000 HMMWV vehicles, small arms and ammunition, grenades, thermal imaging systems, training equipment, demolition tools and explosives, and spare parts.

“The United States will continue working with some 50 allied nations and partners through the Ukraine Defense Contact Group and related coalitions to meet Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs and defend against Russian aggression,” the US Department of Defense added.

Earlier, Australia has announced it will send 49 decommissioned M1A1 Abrams tanks to Ukraine as part of a $245 million military aid package.
