France to Deliver Newly Designed Strike Drones to Ukraine in Coming Weeks

France will soon begin delivering newly developed attack drones to Ukraine, announced French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu on October 16.

Lecornu confirmed that tests of France’s first strike drone were successful and that French military units and Ukraine will receive them within the coming weeks.

The minister added that it is crucial for France to advance in this emerging field within the next two years, ensuring domestic production of strike drones.

In March 2024, the French Ministry of Defense ordered 2,000 domestically produced drones, with 100 specifically designated for Ukraine.

Lecornu noted that strike drones have become an integral part of military operations and would complement the Caesar self-propelled howitzers already in use.

Earlier, French Defense Minister said that France will deliver Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine in the first quarter of 2025, equipped with the latest systems for fighting and protecting against electronic warfare.
