US Extends Ban on Russian-Linked Ships Entering American Ports Through 2026

On April 17, the United States extended existing restrictions on vessels flying the Russian flag or otherwise affiliated with Russia from entering American ports.
The extension, signed by President Donald Trump, continues the state of national emergency first declared in April 2022 under the Biden administration.

According to the document published in the US Federal Register, the restrictions remain in place for another year, citing ongoing concerns over Russia’s actions and policies.
“I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency with respect to the Russian Federation and the emergency authority relating to the regulation of the anchorage and movement of Russian-affiliated vessels to United States ports,” the document states.
The renewed measures mean that Russian-flagged ships, or vessels with ties to Russian interests, will remain barred from docking at US ports through at least April 2026 unless otherwise amended.
Previously, it was reported that Russia’s oil earnings have dropped to their lowest levels since mid-2023, with exports declining for the third consecutive week and prices falling amid the US-China trade war.
