Poland Expects Russian Attacks on Border Crossings With Ukraine as Moscow Targets Trade Routes, Tusk Says

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced during a press conference in Slovakia that Poland expects Russian attacks targeting border crossings shared with Ukraine.

His warning comes in the wake of recent Russian strikes against international border checkpoints, according to Reuters on September 10.

Tusk highlighted previous incidents, noting that Russia has already carried out provocative attacks on border infrastructure, including in Moldova.

He emphasized that similar actions are anticipated against border control facilities in neighboring states, particularly within Poland. Joint operations between Polish and Ukrainian intelligence services successfully neutralized an immediate danger directed at a border checkpoint overnight.

According to Tusk, specific intelligence provided directly by the US Central Intelligence Agency outlines potential security threats over the coming months. He noted that these findings align with warnings he has raised previously.

"We must anticipate different scenarios; both Poland and the whole of Europe must be ready for various developments not only on the Russian-Ukrainian front, but also along the EU's eastern flank," Tusk emphasized.

On August 14, Romanian authorities issued three air alerts as Russian forces attacked Ukraine’s Odesa region, with another drone reported entering Romanian airspace, highlighting the recurring violations of both Romanian and Moldovan airspace during such attacks.

Four unidentified military-grade drones tracked the flight path of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska during their official visit to Ireland.

The presidential aircraft had touched down at Dublin Airport slightly ahead of schedule, but the drones arrived at the airspace where the plane was originally expected. Afterwards, the drones circled an Irish Navy vessel that had been secretly stationed in the Irish Sea.

Irish authorities chose not to engage the drones, which were believed to have been launched from northeast Dublin and had remained airborne for up to two hours. Law enforcement officials believed the intent had been to disrupt the president's arrival, as the drones had operated with visible lights turned on in a deliberate attempt to be seen.
