Germany will supply Ukraine with four additional IRIS-T surface-to-air defense systems along with accompanying missiles, as well as 30 more missiles for the Patriot air defense system.

This was stated by Germany’s Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in his opening remarks upon arriving at NATO headquarters in Brussels on April 11.

Additionally, Pistorius noted that leaders would discuss Ukraine’s proposal to locally produce missiles under license.

When asked about the ongoing discussions around a potential reassurance force that could involve European troops in Ukraine, he declined to elaborate, saying, “I would rather not discuss issues like that in the marketplaces of the world,” and emphasized the need to remain “smart and ambitious.”

“We will find a way to go where we have to go, but [until] then, we should rather discuss that internally than publicly,” Pistorius added.

On April 10, European defense ministers from approximately 30 countries gathered in Brussels for a meeting of the “Coalition of the Willing” to discuss continued support for Ukraine.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission said, “It has been now four weeks when they [Ukraine] were very clear that they agreed to the unconditional ceasefire and Russia still hasn’t agreed to the ceasefire. So it’s clear that Ukraine wants peace, but Russia so far doesn’t.”
