Today, at the United Nations Security Council, a coalition of nations including Ukraine, Albania, Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Japan, Latvia, Liberia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Marshall Islands, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Republic of Moldova, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union have issued a resolute statement condemning Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine.

Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, delivered the statement, underscoring the blatant violations of the UN Charter by Russia and its misuse of the Security Council in falsely portraying itself as a guardian of multilateral order.

The statement highlighted the international community’s steadfast support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. It condemned Russia’s direct military support from North Korea and Iran, which contravenes UN resolutions. Belarus was also called out for providing infrastructure and territory to Russia’s military operations.

Moreover, the coalition welcomed the recent UN General Assembly resolution on the security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, a clear signal to Russia following its unprecedented seizure of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

The joint declaration reiterated the urgent demand for Russia to withdraw all military personnel and equipment from Ukraine immediately and unconditionally, emphasizing ongoing efforts towards achieving comprehensive peace based on the principles of the UN Charter.

In conclusion, the coalition pledged continued cooperation in holding Russia accountable for its aggression, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, reaffirming their commitment to international law and global peace and security.
