Italy has committed €140 million towards the enhancement of Ukrainian infrastructure and is in the process of assembling a new military aid package for Ukraine, focusing on strengthening the air defense capabilities.

This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy Antonio Tajani, on June 11 during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin.

Minister Tajani underscored the importance of safeguarding Ukrainian infrastructure and residences through the implementation of air defense measures. That is why Italy’s new military package for Ukraine will include SAMP/T air defense systems.

Italy approved to allocate €140 million package for the development of Ukrainian infrastructure, railways, health care, the agricultural sector, and demining. Part of the money will be invested in the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral in Odesa which was destroyed during a Russian missile attack on the city.
