Japan Allocates $188 Million Within a Tech Transfer Program for Ukraine
Japan and the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine announced a project, in cooperation with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), to transfer advanced Japanese technologies to Ukraine.
“This project opens up opportunities for businesses to receive a grant of up to $10 million, and the total project budget is $188 million,” according to the statement.
The project aims to support Ukraine’s green industry recovery and achieve long-term sustainable development through technology transfer, capacity building, and co-creation of enterprises in key industries with high potential for growth and added value, as well as with a strong focus on socio-economic impact and support for people affected by the war.
The initiative will target sectors, such as:
Agro-tech, value chains, and water management.
Production from biomass and unused primary products, and the development of a circular economy.
Digital transformation, active use of ICT (information and communication technologies), data analytics, and artificial intelligence.
Sustainable energy systems, energy conservation, industrial decarbonization, energy infrastructure management, and climate risk mitigation and adaptation.
Green hydrogen/ammonia, focusing on advancements in medical technology, promoting the use of telemedicine, and improving overall healthcare services.
Med-tech, telemedicine, and medical services.
During the Summit on Peace for Ukraine, on June 13, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida signed a 10-year bilateral security agreement.
Earlier, on June 11-12, the Ukraine Recovery Conference was in Berlin, showcasing investment opportunities and featuring 95 projects across various sectors in Ukraine.
