On March 26, Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, reported that Russia launched a drone attack on Kharkiv, causing damage to residential buildings and a civilian infrastructure site.

Emergency responders and medical teams are actively working at the affected locations, providing assistance to those injured. Efforts to manage the consequences of the attack are ongoing.

Shmyhal stated that “these strikes highlight Russia’s continued aggression against Ukraine” and emphasized “the need for international support to achieve justice and peace.”

Oleh Syniehubov, the head of Kharkiv Regional State Administration, confirmed that “at least 15 explosions were heard in the city due to the attack.”

“Residential apartment buildings have been damaged, and according to preliminary information, a civilian infrastructure site has been affected. There are currently eight injured following the massive shelling of Kharkiv,” confirmed Kharkiv’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov.

Russian attack on the settlement of Zolochiv in Kharkiv region resulted in injuries to three civilians. Syniehubov stated, “A 14-year-old girl was hospitalized in serious condition,” while “two women, aged 67 and 60, also sustained injuries and are receiving medical care.”

In the same night, media reports indicated a new wave of attacks targeting Dnipro. Russian forces have accumulated up to 10 drones and launched them in groups from various directions on the city.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted, stating:

“Ordinary Ukrainian cities: Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipro. Ordinary life and Russian strikes that should never have been. Every day in Ukraine is marked by large-scale attacks with strike drones, most of which are 'Shaheds.' Iran taught Russia to produce such drones.

Today, more than a dozen drones hit our Kharkiv, one of the largest cities in Ukraine. Ordinary homes were damaged, and as of now, 8 people have been injured, including a 12-year-old girl. No country should have to endure this.

In light of this, it is utterly inappropriate and unhelpful to talk about easing pressure on Russia, lifting sanctions, and so on. Russia kills every day and prolongs this war. The American proposal for an unconditional ceasefire has been on the table for half a month.

What’s needed is pressure on Russia to save lives and make diplomacy work faster and more fully. Without pressure on Russia, there will be no result.”
