Lithuania to Transfer 14 M113 Armored Personnel Carriers to Ukraine This Week

On June 12, the Lithuanian government approved the transfer of 14 M113 armored personnel carriers (APCs) to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. 

This was stated by the Ministry of National Defense of Lithuania. The APCs should be arriving in Ukraine this week.

These APCs are going help assist the Armed Forces of Ukraine in demining and are Lithuania's contribution to the Demining Coalition led by Lithuania and Iceland. The purpose of the Ukraine Demining Coalition is to unite and coordinate the existing and future support of donor countries to Ukraine, both in the fields of military and humanitarian demining.

“The transfer of M113 armored vehicles was initiated by the Ministry of National Defense and the Lithuanian Army in response to a request submitted by the Ukrainian Government to its allies and with the aim of helping the Ukrainian Army to counter Russian aggression,” stated the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania.

The M113 APC effectively transports troops to specified destinations, aids in evacuating injured personnel from the combat zone, and is known for its outstanding performance in rough terrain.
