On September 13, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis at a press conference in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.

“The only way to achieve a just and lasting peace is through restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, justice, and irreversible anchoring of Ukraine in EU and NATO,” Landsbergis said.

Landsbergis called for Ukraine’s use of long-range missiles citing the UN Charter which gives Ukraine “undisputed right of self-defense.”

Additionally, the Lithuanian Minister urged for increasing sanctions against the Kremlin in order to cut its flow of money.

“We should sanction what is easily sanctionable. Such as Russian airfields… And Ukraine I’m sure would be ready to sanction them with long-range missile strikes, if only Ukraine would be allowed to do that,” Landsbergis said, to which Minister Andrii Sybiha smirked.

A United24 Media journalist asked whether Landsbergis can expand on Lithuania’s promise to boost its support of Ukraine in the production of weapons, specifically long-range drones by investing in drone production in Ukraine as well as with co-production efforts.

“It has already been announced… Production in Ukraine. That’s probably the last information that we will be issuing. At this stage, I’m not ready to announce anything else, but we’re looking for other ways for how to support Ukraine’s drone industry. I think also how could Ukrainian industry boost our own defense by investing if we’re able to procure things that would defend not just Ukrainian skies or Ukrainian seas but also the Baltic Sea and Ukrainian skies,” Landsbergis said.
