On February 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Washington, D.C., where he was greeted by U.S. President Donald Trump.

The two leaders are set to sign a landmark framework agreement on mineral resources, marking a significant step in strengthening ties between Ukraine and the United States.

Trump did not respond to shouted questions from reporters on whether the two leaders would sign a deal today, but as he shook Zelenskyy’s hand, Trump joked that the Ukrainian leader is “all dressed up today.”

Trump: "You don't have the cards right now. With us, you start having cards ... You're gambling with the lives of millions of people! You're gambling with World War III!"

“If you didn’t have our weapons and equipment, this war would be over in two weeks," Trump said.

Zelenskyy responded: "I heard from Putin about three days, and now it's two weeks."

Zelenskyy’s meeting with Trump ended with the cancellation of the press conference, according to the White House, and a post from Trump stating that "President Zelenskyy is not ready for peace if America is involved because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations."
