Fighters of the National Guard of Ukraine confirmed destroying Russia’s Su-25 fighter jet on June 23, which was on a sortie in the Donetsk region.
Ukrainian forces discovered an enemy Su-25 near the defensive lines, which they had held since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The 31st Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine shot down the Su-25 by a well-aimed shot.
“Destroying one more aircraft of the occupation forces of the Russian Federation reduces the enemy's ability to harm our Defense Forces and the civilian population, increases the morale of our defenders, and gives a clear signal to the occupier: ‘We will beat you on the ground and in the sky’,” the National Guard of Ukraine wrote on their website.
In the last months, Ukraine has been actively targeting Russian fighter jets, in particular downing a Su-57, Russia’s most advanced fighter jet.
