New Prisoner Exchange Underway Between Ukraine and Russia, Zelenskyy Confirms

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the start of a new prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia.
According to his statement on Telegram on June 9, the process is already underway and will continue over the next few days in several stages.
“Ukrainians are returning from Russian captivity,” Zelenskyy stated in his address.

He noted that among those being returned are wounded and severely injured individuals, as well as service members under the age of 25. The exchange process, he said, is complex and involves many sensitive details, with negotiations taking place almost daily.
The President expressed hope that the humanitarian agreements reached during the recent meeting in Istanbul would be fully implemented. He emphasized that Ukraine is doing everything possible at all levels to bring all captives home.

“We must bring back every person held in captivity. I thank everyone who is helping,” Ukrainian President concluded.
The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets also emphasized that his Office ensured the protection of their rights throughout the process and reaffirmed that efforts continue daily to secure the return of all Ukrainian prisoners.
