Norway is sending six F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, announced the country’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The aircraft will arrive this year.

Norway had previously announced plans to provide fighters as early as August 2023 but had never officially disclosed the quantity.

In April, military websites Zona Militar and Nettavisen reported that Ukraine could receive 22 F-16s, although not all would necessarily be operational — some would be used for spare parts. In addition to the fighters, Oslo will provide engines, auxiliary materials, simulators, spare parts, and other equipment.
