Operation “Spider Web” Restores Confidence in Ukraine, Says Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has revealed new details about the recent Ukrainian military operation, codenamed “Spider Web,” describing it as a demonstration of the country’s growing independent capabilities and a turning point in restoring faith in Ukraine’s strength.
According to Zelenskyy, the operation was executed entirely by Ukrainian forces without the involvement of foreign partners. He framed this independence as a deliberate choice that underscores Ukraine’s ability to act decisively and effectively on its own. “The operation was conducted independently—without partner involvement,” Zelenskyy said.
The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of more than 40 Russian combatants, whom Zelenskyy identified as individuals directly responsible for killing Ukrainians. He characterized the strike as targeted and strategic, aimed not just at military assets but at weakening the Russian narrative of control and security.
“The Russian narrative that they are safe and winning this war no longer works,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that the operation sent a clear signal: “They are not safe.”

Beyond its tactical results, the operation had significant psychological and symbolic weight. Zelenskyy said it helped restore domestic morale and international confidence in Ukraine’s ability to push back against Russian aggression. “Faith in Ukraine has returned,” he stated.
He added that Ukraine’s advantage lies not only in manpower or military volume but in the resolve of its people, access to advanced technologies, and continued support from allies. “Everything depends on willpower, truth, technology, and partner assistance,” Zelenskyy said.
The operation followed a massive Russian missile and drone assault that struck Ukrainian civilian infrastructure with approximately 400 aerial weapons. Zelenskyy presented Spider Web as both a response to that attack and a broader effort to reduce Russia’s military potential.
“This operation diminishes the Russian capability,” he said. “It restores and strengthens Ukraine’s belief in its own future.”
On June 1, Ukraine launched coordinated strikes on four military airfields deep inside Russia targeting over 40 combat aircraft, including Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 strategic bombers.
