Polish Foreign Minister Claims Russia Could Store 100 Nuclear Warheads in Kaliningrad
According to Polish authorities, the Russian Federation may be storing 100 nuclear warheads in the Kaliningrad region.
This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski on the sidelines of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin on June 11.
"About 250 kilometers north of Warsaw lies the Kaliningrad region, a Russian exclave believed to house approximately 100 tactical nuclear warheads. To the east, about 250 kilometers away, is Belarus, where there have been reports of Russians and Belarusians attacking the EU and Schengen zone borders," Sikorski said.
Polish FM also mentioned that Russian missiles periodically violate Polish airspace. The minister summed up that the danger to this part of Europe is "greater than some people think."
"One such missile landed 10 kilometres from my home in Western Poland, 250 kilometres from here... So the threat is closer than everyone realises," Sikorski said.
The Ukraine Recovery Conference is being held in the lead-up to Summit on Peace for Ukraine, which will take place in Switzerland on June 15-16. According to Switzerland’s president, nearly 90 countries and organizations, have confirmed attending the summit.
