Throughout the previous year, Russia’s army sustained 430,790 casualties (both killed and wounded)—the equivalent of nearly 36 motorized rifle divisions. These losses exceeded the combined total for 2022 and 2023.
In December 2024, Russian forces suffered record monthly losses, with 48,670 personnel— the highest since the invasion began. November 2024 previously held the record at 45,720.
