President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has raised alarms regarding Russia’s use of Chinese satellites to photograph Ukrainian nuclear power plants. He indicated that this surveillance could indicate preparations for potential strikes on these facilities.

In an interview with ABC News, Zelenskyy stated, “Recent reports suggest that Russia is employing Chinese satellites to capture detailed images of nuclear sites. From our experience, when Russia photographs specific locations, it poses a threat of strikes against nuclear facilities.”

Zelenskyy did not clarify whether the satellites utilized by Russia were commercial in nature or under the control of the Chinese government. He emphasized that Ukraine would share its findings with world leaders during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly.

On September 23, the Chinese embassy in Washington did not respond to requests for comments from ABC News on this matter.
