In a recent exclusive interview with ABC News, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the urgency of his proposed “Victory Plan,” aiming to strengthen Ukraine and compel Russia to negotiate. During his visit to the United Nations General Assembly, Zelenskyy conveyed his belief that the war with Russia is “closer to an end” than many perceive.

“The plan of victory is strengthening of Ukraine,” Zelenskyy stated, urging allies to bolster support for his country. He highlighted the significance of this support, saying, “That’s why we’re asking our friends, our allies, to strengthen us. It’s very important.”

Zelenskyy expressed skepticism about Russian President Vladimir Putin’s willingness to engage in genuine negotiations, stating, “I do not believe that Putin is currently ready for real negotiations.” Instead, he framed the “Victory Plan” as a pathway to diplomatic resolution, aimed at bringing a swift conclusion to the conflict. “It’s not about negotiation with Russia,” he asserted. “It’s a bridge to a diplomatic way out, to stop the war.”

According to ABC, a source close to Zelenskyy revealed that the plan comprises five points, focusing on specific military assistance and diplomatic actions. Notably, the plan does not include any concessions to Russia, as it seeks to compel the Kremlin to end hostilities. Zelenskyy characterized the plan as “urgent,” with the goal of achieving peace quickly, rather than prolonging the conflict.

Amid concerns about potential shifts in US policy following upcoming elections, Zelenskyy stated, “US policy could change, and therefore we need to prepare in advance.” He emphasized the critical role of the United States in the decision-making process, particularly regarding long-range missile strikes. “The main role is in the United States, in the president of the United States, Biden. Everybody’s looking up to him, and we need this to defend ourselves,” he said.

Zelenskyy also highlighted the risks posed by Russia’s military operations, noting that the Kremlin has utilized Chinese satellites to gather intelligence on Ukraine’s nuclear facilities. “The recent information is that Russia has been using Chinese satellites and taking photos of the details of the objects on nuclear facilities,” he warned, indicating a potential threat of strikes against these critical sites.

In addressing the ongoing military situation, Zelenskyy remarked on Russia’s anxiety regarding Ukraine’s recent offensive into the Kursk region. “He’s afraid very much,” he said of Putin, explaining that intelligence indicated a Russian intention to occupy Ukraine’s northern Sumy region. “We had to move in with our troops. And we did it so that they did not occupy our north.”

First Lady Olena Zelenska, accompanying Zelenskyy, is advocating for the return of Ukrainian children deported to Russia, underscoring the need for international cooperation to address this humanitarian crisis. She revealed that approximately 19,500 children remain in Russia, while only 308 have been returned through negotiations, calling for urgent action to accelerate this process.

As Zelenskyy prepares to present his “Victory Plan” to President Biden and other key US leaders, he remains focused on strengthening Ukraine’s position and ensuring that support from allies remains robust. “We just have to be very strong, very strong,” he concluded.
