Russian Attack on Vilniansk Claims Lives of 7, Including 3 Children
In a targeted evening attack on Saturday, Russian forces struck the town of Vilnyansk in the Zaporizhzhia region, resulting in a tragic toll. According to official reports, the assault claimed the lives of seven individuals, including two children, with an additional 23 people injured.
The head of Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Ivan Fedorov, confirmed the incident via Telegram, detailing the casualties and damage inflicted. Initial figures reported six civilians killed and eight wounded. Subsequent updates raised the death toll to seven, including two children, and the number of injured to ten.
Fedorov described the attack as a missile strike on Vilnyansk, occurring during daylight hours in the city center, where residents were enjoying their weekend leisure time, away from any military infrastructure. The strike caused significant damage to critical infrastructure, a shop, and residential buildings.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also addressed the nation via Telegram, expressing his condolences and confirming that the number of wounded had risen to 11, including three children. He emphasized the potential for further casualties as the situation unfolds.
Authorities from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVS) later updated the casualty figures, confirming that as of 20:15, seven people had lost their lives, including two children, and 18 others were injured, among them four children.
As the evening progressed, Ivan Fedorov provided further updates, noting that medical assistance had been provided to 20 individuals, with seven remaining hospitalized, including four adults and one child in critical condition.
By 21:20, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (DSNS) reported a total of 23 casualties from the hostile attack, including eight children. Tragically, seven individuals lost their lives, including two children.
Update: Rescuers have cleared the aftermath of the Russian strike on the town of Vilnyansk in the Zaporizhzhia region. The search and rescue operation has been completed. Preliminary reports indicate that seven people, including two children, were killed, and 31 individuals, including eight children, were injured. Rescuers, police, medics, paramedics, and the Red Cross Ukraine’s Rapid Response Team worked on-site.
Update: As of 09:30, following the June 29th shelling of Vilniansk, seven people were killed (including three men, one woman, and three children). Another 36 individuals, including nine children, sustained injuries. The attack caused significant damage, including to two residential buildings, 12 businesses, and seven vehicles.
Earlier today, Russian forces conducted intense shelling in the Donetsk region. Officials from the Donetsk Regional Administration and the Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported that earlier in the day, four civilians lost their lives and seven more were injured as a result of the shelling by Russian forces on Saturday.
